Come visit this idyllic riverside retreat to get away from everything. This vacation home is a restored stone and log cabin, and it will give visitors the feeling of true peace. For visitors that own or wish to rent a boat from elsewhere, the river is the perfect place to go kayaking, and it is only a five to 10 minute paddle from Mullett Lake. Spend a sunny day checking out the fish and wildlife while on the water. Or, make a fire at the firepit and enjoy an evening roasting marshmallows and eating them at the picnic table.
Before booking, you should be aware that, although the cell phone service is excellent, this vacation home does not include TV, cable, or WiFi! For us, this is the perfect combination; it is easy to reach others or be reached if needed, but the distractions of social media or TV can be kept at a minimum. Instead of plugging into the outside world, cook a delicious meal in the fully equipped kitchen, or wake up slowly with a fresh cup of coffee on the screened in front porch.
The vacation home sleeps a total of four, with one bedroom and one full bathroom.
With this vacation home’s porch looking out over the water, the river is perhaps its best feature for visitors who want to experience the beauty of a warm summer day. With cool, blue and green waters that are unpolluted by the level of toxins found in more populated areas, even if you don’t have a boat, you can wade right in and enjoy yourself.
There are plenty of activities and amenities here for you in the Cheboygan area. The town itself is only a five minute drive from the property. There, you can collect groceries or enjoy a nice meal at a local restaurant. Head to Cheboygan’s Brewing Company for a good drink. Or, take the kids to Kilwin’s for ice cream and other sweet treats.
The Inland Waterway is definitely worth exploring, even if you only want to do a portion of the well known 40 mile water trail. Paddle around and enjoy seeing the ducks and herons. Or, bull up your boat at one of the many small groceries or restaurants that are positioned conveniently along the Waterway. This unique experience is definitely one you won’t want to miss!
In Cheboygan, you can also take a lighthouse tour or, of course, enjoy one of the many locations in which to go fishing. You can also head to Mackinaw City for the day, only about 15 miles out from Cheboygan. There, you can learn about the history of the area through Colonial Michilimackinac. Or, pick up a souvenir to bring back home with you. There are also a variety of hiking opportunities in the surrounding areas: Check out the North Central State Trail or Black Mountain Recreation Area!
