Welcome to the Gold Coast of Bostwick Lake!
My cottage is tucked away in a quieter cove at the South East end of the lake. If you're an early morning riser sip your coffee on the front porch and be mesmerized by its' glassy stillness and the wildlife.
You can watch the fish jump for their breakfast or count how many turtles pass by with little noses just clearing the water. Last summer a family reported seeing a pretty big Snapping Turtle basking under the cherry tree. Be sure to give him lots of space! And if you're really lucky a Heron and his mate will land at the end of the dock to preen and show off their incredible wing spans. A pair of swans will sometimes cruise by and stop to beg for bread. Ducks too.
It's one of Michigan's cleanest lakes so plan on spending time on and in the water. I have picnic blankets, plenty of beach towels and an assortment of life jackets, air mattresses and water toys. At the end of the day a Weber charcoal grill is ready for the cottage chef.
With 24 hour on-call maintenance you can focus on your vacation. The cottage has a one stall garage and two outside parking spots.
My Bostwick Lake cottage is only 20 minutes away from metro Grand Rapids. "Places Rated Almanac" ranked Grand Rapids as the #3 city in the nation for fun and recreation. That’s your backyard!
Or gather the gang and head to the picturesque town of Rockford only 5.5 miles away. Sample homemade chocolate treats at Polly's Passions or the tastiest ever Chili Dogs at Red's on the River.
Vacation Time here means plenty of lake time.
You'll have a hard time dragging the kids out of the lake. The dock arrangement with its L shape is perfect. Only 3 to 4 feet deep with a sandy bottom inside the L swimming couldn't be better.
End of the dock fishing will result in Blue Gills galore.
Or you can also take a quiet row around the lake and catch Trout, Crappie, Blue Gill, Perch, Bass or Pike using the “Aqua Swan”.
If you bring a kayak or canoe you can launch it just steps from the front door - either at the dock or the short seawall.
Nearby is golf, and some of the best paved hiking trails in the area. Take a tube float trip on the scenic Rogue River or try some river fishing: Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Steelhead, Salmon, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass.
Ever been to a West Michigan beach? Lake Michigan’s crystal clear fresh water stretches as far as the eye can see. Condé Nast Traveler named the Lake Michigan shoreline one of the 25 best in the world.
Saugatuck and Grand Haven located on the shores of Lake Michigan are two side by side towns that have plenty of eclectic shopping available. If you go, start out early and make a day of it!

I pretty much grew up here under the eagle eyes of my grandpa and grandma. Grandma taught me how to water ski and Grandpa showed me how to bait a hook and cast out my line. When my husband and I come to visit the race is on as to who will catch the most fish for our "End-of-the-Visit" fish fry!
My wish for all the families who will be vacationing here is to provide a relaxed and easy environment. The furnishings are gently used and geared towards families with kids. I want all to feel comfortable but at the same time please respect the property. When it comes time for you to leave the cottage on a Sunday at 10:30am my crew will be able to swoop in and clean. There is a "Helpful Hints" poster on the Kitchen wall. Following these suggestions will be greatly and truly appreciated as we race along getting ready for the next vacationing family arriving at 5:00pm.
