Whitetail Family Resort’s Beaver Cabin also known as cabin 2, is a meticulously kept, postage-stamp cabin with sleeping space for 6 on the banks of Houghton Lake. This classic cottage features a fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom facilities and a cozy living space, with windows that look out on a grassy green lawn and a few tall trees and beautiful lake view right out your front door.. The little blue house is embellished with a charcoal grill and picnic table.
Guests to Beaver Cabin are welcome to use Whitetail Family Resort group amenities such as a fish-cleaning house, paddle boats, boat docks, a swing set, game courts for tetherball, shuffleboard and horseshoes, a sandy swimming area and fire pit. The resort’s ideal location on Michigan’s largest inland lake makes for a calming atmosphere and a terrific view that stretches to the horizon — the perfect place to spend sunny summer days.
Sleeping arrangements: Beaver Cabin offers 2 private bedrooms with a full-sized mattress. There is also a queen-sized futon in the shared living space.
Whitetail Family Resort cultivates a unique, lakeside community atmosphere, made possible through the central placement of resort amenities and group activities. Each cabin sits on a small, private plot, sharing green space and lakefront views with its neighbors. A long, lush, grassy mall that connects the cabins and leads to the waterfront is a great place to run and play in all seasons — and the proximity of the cabins means that families with children have open lines of sight to play features and the majority of resort-own spaces from their own backyard.
Beaver Cabin is located walking distance from the lakeshore, with access to fishing and boating docks, as well as a shared, sandy beach area. Houghton lake is exciting to explore, covering more than 22,000 acres and surrounded by bluffs and other beautiful natural features. The lake is a known habitat for game fish such as bass, northern pike and walleye. Guests can take to the water in one of the resort’s small paddle boats or take advantage of resort's rentals for motorboats and pontoon. You can also spend many a happy hour exploring the wider Houghton Lake area by foot, bike, snowmobile or RV. The resort offers easy access to recreation and nature trails that are maintained year-round.
While you’re here, you might want to venture into the downtown area of Houghton Lake, Mich., where picturesque storefronts house unique local eateries and shops. The community is the birthplace of several well-known festivals. If you time your visit right, you could spend a summer weekend at Historic Village Days, where visitors are invited to wander through restored businesses and homes from the logging era. Or, plan a visit in January to coincide with the legendary Tip Up Town USA, which includes a winter carnival, a polar plunge, a car show, a giant ice slide, turkey bowling and other kitschy contests. Tourists also seek out Houghton Lake for its excellent golfing and hunting.
Things to remember: Guests will need to bring their own towels. (non-housekeeping cabins)

Nicely manicured yard with lots of things to do on site. Our cabin was very 'homey' and comfortable, just as a lake cabin should feel! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook every meal for 9 people for our entire stay. The owners are nice and very accommodating. We had a great time and plan to come back year after year. Seriously, it's a really great place for both fun and relaxation! Book the trip. You'll be glad you did. Kendra Davis

My brother and I purchased Whitetail Family Resort in May 2017 from the Morris family, who owned the resort for 23 years prior to 2017. It has been wonderful adventure so far, living the Houghton-Lake experience and getting to know our vacationers. We both enjoy the outdoor activities available in, on and around Houghton Lake. We are enjoying learning about our guests and hearing their stories and experiences. Some of our guests have been repeat customers for nearly 40 years. We continue to strive to make each guest’s stay memorable and to keep them coming back year after year.
