Sliding drawers next to the refrigerator contain more appliances.

Deer seem to be attracted to the breakfast nook in the mornings.
-
Inside a drawer on a hand crafted table made by a local artisan states, "each piece contains a mistake." It's your job to find it.
-
Another local artisan made these chairs for us. One guest said they were "most comfortable he'd ever sat in."
-
The breakfast counter is a great place to hang out.
-
An entrance to the back deck is right off the kitchen side. Notice picnic table, grill with lighted canopy, and fire circle in the distance.
-
Through the front foyer we see the door to the master bedroom.
-
There's a guest book in the lobby. We get excellent reviews and comments.
-
There's also maps of the trails, guides to plants, and more.
-
Around the corner from the coat rack is a small half-bath, or "powder room."
-
The master bedroom has a queen size bed and plenty of closet space.
-
You can exit through the sliding doors to the back deck and the bed swing.
-
The short hallway to the right takes you to the master bathroom.

It has a jetted tub, sometimes called a "Jacuzzi."

Let's go upstairs.

Two bedrooms: "Quiet Shadows" on the left and "Forest View" on the right.
-
The quiet shadows room has both a twin and a full size bed.

The Forest View bedroom also has a twin and a full size bed.

The view from Quiet Shadows bedroom shows the entrance to the River House trail plus many more sites in the woods.

From Forest View bedroom you can see the grill and canopy, the fire circle, plus the entrance to the Pine Trace trail in the woods.
-
There's a day bed on the 2nd floor. Great for a nap.
-
On the way downstairs you'll pass under well worn shoe shoes and pine cones over one-foot long.
-
You have arrived.
-
The lower level has a pool table, piano, plush chairs, kitchenette, bedrooms, and more. A furnace on the far wall keeps the place cozy in the cold months.
-
Comfy recliners. Just push a button and flatten out. Unique end tables from Northern Canada are between all the chairs.
-
More chairs sit along the sides. The pool cue rack can be seen in the background.
-
Rack 'em up, boys & girls. Let 'er roll.
-
The lodge piano is from 1939, and was used professionally for close to 30 years. Many a sing-a-long has taken place here
-
The pool table has a cover for banquet settings.
-
Take a turn towards the back and find a kitchenette and more.
-
Cupboards contain cups, saucers, and more.
-
Put your cookies and coffee on the snack bar. Behind you can see the sauna on the left and the bathroom/shower door on the right.
-
A refrigerator, microwave, and sink make things easy down here.
-
Saunas are fun. So we have one.
-
You will love the cedar aroma in here.
-
A sink is available inside the sauna so you don't have to open the door to fill the water bucket.
-
A full bathroom with shower is in the lower level. Knotty pine? But of course.
-
The shower area.
-
The back hallway takes you to the bedrooms.
-
Rustic coat, jacket, robe holders are found throughout the lower level.
-
You've come to the Northern Pike bedroom. This queen size bunk bed was built on site.

Right next to it is the Blue Heron Bedroom. It also has a chest of drawers and a closet.
-
View from the back of Blue Heron bedroom.
-
This colorful cabinet was hand crafted in northern Canada. It's one of the most photographed items in Acorn Lodge.
-
We knew you wanted a closer look.
-
Our "digital calendar" is watched over by a frog. You change the dates by turning the wooden blocks with your "digits." Get it?
-
One last photo of the lower level taken from inside the sauna to the sliding glass doors at the far end.
-
-
This is a Google Earth photo. On the high top right an arrow point to Acorn Lodge. The far left white spot is 120' of boulder wall along the river. The middle arrow points to the log bridge which crosses a seasonal river..
-
Before we even go down the trails there's two nice bench sites right out in front of Acorn Lodge. Chief Pontiac has a pleasant forest bathing bench waiting right there.
-
A nice green bench is tucked back among the spruce trees next to the driveway. Sit back and breathe deep.
-
A gentle bench on Pine Trace (right off the back yard) is perfect for forest bathing. It will lead you to Acorn Trail, the main pathway through the woods.
-
A 2nd bench on Pine Trace
-
From this Pine Trace bench you can see the towering Cottonwood Tops. These trees produce a "puff" that floats to the ground and is an amazing antibacterial. It was used by the Indian tribes of this area many years ago.
-
You'll have to look carefully up the ridge to see a Pine Trace bench. It's at 11:00 to the center of the photo.
-
Acorn Trail starts at the back corner of the lawn behind the deck.
-
Our three cottonwood trees produce "cottonwood puff," a strong antibacterial. A rare tornado snapped off a large white pine a few years ago. Critters of the woods now use it for their homes.
-
The Indian Mound has stories that go back centuries
-
Local historians tell us the mound was caused by glaciers, but that the Indians used it as a burial mound as well. A quiet bench sits at the top.
-
Signs along the trails will keep you from getting lost.
-
A 110' log bridge crosses a seasonal river. The Michigan logging era (1800s) avoided us because of the ruggedness of this area.
-
Ash Tree Basin is filled with water during flood time. The log bridge goes right through the basin.
-
A muskrat swims along the log bridge. They come inland from the river to be safer from predators.
-
A rare whirlpool spins at the culverts that go under the bridge.
-
Beyond the log bridge a tree house looms down the trail.
-
Formerly an abandoned hunting blind, it was reinforced, outfitted with stairs, supports, and windows, and is now a favourite attraction at Acorn Lodge.
-
Inside is insulated, wood paneled, and comfy. Bring your coffee and book to this location. Comfortably seats three. More have been known to jam in.
-
There's a heater in the tree house for the cold months. It only takes less than five minutes before you'll be turning it down.
-
A last look at the tree house before arriving at the river.
-
The River House is a highly popular gathering area.
-
Situated right on the banks, there's plenty of places to stretch out and take it easy.
-
Inside the River House is a great place to hang out if some rain comes in. Or just to hang out with friends and coffee. Your choice.
-
River House from coming around the bend.
-
When we had to take out a tree we turned it into a coffee table.
-
Two quiet benches overlook the river.
-
The Acorn Lodge sign let's canoe and kayak people know we're here.
-
Big floppy eared dogs like to go canoeing around here. He barked "hello" to us.
-
You might even see a bald eagle go by. We did
-
Dragonflies only live in areas of pure water. They are plentiful here.
-
Damsel flies are the same: only in pure water areas.
-
As you see, they'll land right on you.
