Grand Junction, Michigan is a beautiful combination of rural farmland and lakefront summer cottages. This is the place to settle into the slow life of a true Michigan vacation. Lake life must be experienced here! Travel west 10 miles to South Haven to discover Lake Michigan with a beach day (South Beach and North Beach are both great options). Rent a boat at Blue Water Boat Rentals and cruise the vast lake. Visit the Michigan Maritime Museum to discover the history of this beautiful area, then take a day sail on the museum’s Friends Good Will, a working reproduction of a merchant boat overtaken by the British during the War of 1812. For a smaller lake experience, head east to Saddle Lake, where a boat launch provides boat and kayak access.
If you’re looking for fun off the water, Ely Lake Park is a lovely place to walk forested trails along the water. Catch a car race at Gingerman Raceway, rent ATVs at KJC ATV Rentals and Trails, or hop horseback at Simpsarosa Stables. Take the kids to Friends Good Will Splash Pad on a hot day, or one of many parks on a cooler day. Tee up at Beeches Golf Club, or explore the history of antique gas and steam engines at the Michigan Flywheelers Museum. Experience the rich farm history of the area at Bumbleberry Acres, McIntosh Orchards, or Overhiser Orchards, where you can pet farm animals, pick your own produce, and stock up at farm stores.
Stokes Homestead Farm Market is another beautiful farm, and is also home to a bakery and cafe where you can fuel up for your many adventures here in the Grand Junction area. Other restaurant options are plentiful! Enjoy breakfast at Phoenix Street Cafe, Cafe Julia, or Six Chicks Scratch Kitchen. Grab coffee in an adorable setting at The Living Room of South Haven. Stop for lunch at Clementines or Chomp Gourmet Hot Dogs. For a casual dinner, Momma’s TJM BBQ or Three Blondes Brewing are excellent options, while the Inn at Hawkshead is a perfect spot for a finer dinner experience.
